On July 13th around the country, we celebrate National French Fry Day! (Though we are perfectly happy to celebrate this one every day of the year)
In honour of the humble potato, we put together a list of the 6 ways to eat our favourite vegetable!
1. French fries
Alright, this one goes without saying! There’s something so satisfying about this perfect balance between golden crispiness on the outside, and fluffy pillowy potato on the inside.
Up your fry game and load them up with cheese and bacon, or taco mix to make a meal out of this delicious snack.
While the crunchy crispiness of fries is hard to beat, we’re also super partial to potato wedges! Letting the potato shine, wedges are part of a perfect trio when paired with sour cream and sweet chilli.
Make your own at home by slicing a few potatoes into rough wedges, drizzle with olive oil and then roast in the oven for a healthier snack!
3. Baked potato
Sometimes known as a jacket potato, the baked potato is a winter warmer from way back!
The beauty of this dish is that you can jazz up your potato with whatever toppings you fancy! Whether it’s cheese, bacon, sour cream, chives or all of the above - you’ll end up with a delicious dish no matter what you choose.
4. Mashed potato
Around for over 250 years, mashed potato is one of the OG ways to enjoy your potatoes!
While its most famous pairing is with sausages, at The Groove Train you’ll find a yummy side of mash with the Braised Beef Cheek.
5. Roast potato
Another favourite here at The Groove Train, we dish up roasted kipfler potatoes on the side with our steaks!
Play with cooking times to find the perfect balance of crispiness and fluffiness for the ultimate roast potato.
6. Sweet potato fries
Okay, is this cheating? Either way, sweet potato fries are exploding in popularity and for good reason - they’re delicious!
Sprinkle paprika and herbs on some sweet potato wedges before roasting in the oven for a delicious way to add some colour to your dinner plate.
Craving potato now? We’ve got you covered! Come in for some fried, roasted or mashed goodness at The Groove Train.
